from the get go, you know this soda is wacky. the bottle is strange looking, it is 14 ounces instead of the usual 12. then you see it has a “blend of Madagascan, Indonesian and Tahitian Vanilla Extracts.” what the heck is that about?! at first, i always enjoy this soda. it is very full bodied, you can taste the honey and vanilla distinctly. yet, as i drain more and more of it, i always feel a little sick. it is too rich perhaps. i do not know. not that it is a bad sick always, sometimes it is kind of nice. overall, it is not really a sarsaparilla but more of a creamy, rich root beer.

Ingredients: Triple filtered carbonated water, cane sugar, caramel color, malic acid, natural spices, blend of Madagascan, Indonesian, and Tahitian vanilla extracts, honey, wintergreen extract and natural flavors.

sadly, this does not at all live up to their birch beers. the cane sugar and the yucca extract in this combine for a weird taste. it is not a very good taste. it is bearable and decent if you drink it with a meal or something but by itself it is not something i would pick to have often. very unfortunate since this probably the only really bad soda i have had from this NJ bottleworks.

Ingredients: carbonated water, cane sugar, natural and artificial flavors, caramel color, natural yucca extract, citric acid, sodium benzoate (preserves freshness)

Crystal Club Draft Style Root Beer

March 11, 2000
Filed under: root beers — anthony @ 3:01 pm

Available: PA Obtained in: Wilkes Barre, PA
Head: Medium Sweetener: corn sweetener

not what i expected so much. has 4 ingredients (carbonated water, corn sweeteners, root beer flavor, carmel color) but it has a pretty bold and distinct flavor. kind of licquorice-y but not in a harsh way like many others do. very carbonated though and beyond that licquorice flavor it is not amazing. good, but it makes you burp a whole load. so i’d get some more since it is quite cheap, but i wouldn’t base a lifestyle on it.
