I do compare it to Sprecher's as another reviewer did, but I put Sprecher's well ahead of it. I just did a 54 root beer side-by-side tasting and our one criteria was simple: which rb's did you like enough to buy again. Only about 10 - 15 made the cut for everyone and Cap'n Eli's was on most of our lists. I noticed that most of the people writing glowing reviews had been sent a free 4 pack of the stuff. I have to wonder if that had anything to do with how most people rated this. It tastes like something is missing, and aside from the high sugar taste, doesn't have much of any kind of other taste. I was excited to see the inclusion of anise in the ingredient list, although to taste it, you never could tell. The only thing this has over the generic store brand root beers is a visible head of foam I could see inside the bottle. Root beer should be "full bodied", with at least two layers of flavor, this barely had one. I found this to be a very weak root beer.
