the sarsaparilla at long last! (just the diet root beer to go after this). a very light colored soda, that is rather unusual. more of a ginger ale color going on here. the taste is rather good, better than the other 2 flavors so far i would say. a light flavor too actually. thirst quenching but leaving you wanting more. i can’t place the taste exactly, seems like a cane sugar thing with a slight bitter thing that hits your tongue. and a nice aftertaste. i always appreciate a nice aftertaste. and a good bottle. this has both.

ah, the birch beer now! i am quite thirsty and in need of a good beverage, i just rode my bike inside for a good long time, and hard too. so will it satisfy? hopefully. smells good, that is for sure. well, it is decent. a bit bland, i search for the flavor. that could be a worse thing but the flavor that is present is rather good. sweet and slightly wintergreen but not so much that you wintergreen haters will be all up in arms. but i still would pick other clear birch beers before this one. i do like that it is not too heavily carbonated though. sometimes you just don’t want tons of bubbles, you know?

Cooper’s Cave Ale Company Root Beer

this is one of the raddest places i have been. i went to a couple of beverage stores in Glen’s Falls on the way to the brewry, thinking maybe they would carry this soda or maybe some others, but no one had any and they seemed confused when i said i was looking for root beers other than the A&W and Boylan’s that they carried. so i went to the brewery which had about 10 taps on the wall of their beers where you could fill your growler and then shelves of these indentical flip top glass bottles, each with a little label indicating the flavor. strangely they are labeled 375 ml / 12 oz but 12 oz is 355 ml as far as i know. oh well. they also sold ice cream, loads of local products like honey and hot sauce and syrups and also a lot of clothes advertising the place. now i am not sure why i did not get ice cream, i love ice cream. oh well. so i gathered up the 4-5 bottles of the flavors i wanted and paid for them. the cashier let me know that these too are refillable but i explained that i live too far away to get them refilled, unfortunately. beyond the rad bottles this soda is pretty good but not really unique, it is just root beer. tasty enough for what it is. enjoying with some pizza. would be good with some ice cream.

Blumers Root Beer

so people occasionally write to me and tell me about some soda available near them, asking WHY in the world have i not reviewed it?! sometimes those people will say they will send me a bottle or can and we trade addresses but usually the people do not. sometimes too i forget to send them some sodas from here in return for a long time, but eventually i think i do. so anyhow, Bob actually sent me 3 bottles of Blumers! what a guy. of course i just now found their website where i could have ordered from, but this is even better. for me at least. ok, this soda is very good, i must admit but there is some strange subtle taste in there that i don’t like. the thing about this soda is that although it is good, it is virtually indistinguishable from many other “very good” sodas so i suppose it will suffer slightly by being reviewed 267th or whatever it is now. creamy, smooth with a little bit too little carbonation i would say, strangely. could just be this bottle though.
