ah, the mighty Tony came through for me on this one yet again! he is a champ among men. we traded for a few sodas, including several i have been after for a long while now. this is my first experience with a ‘blonde’ root beer although that may just be a fancy thing they stuck on here. i have certainly have had other root beers that are this color. i try not to think about it too much as it really looks like bubbly urine but we’ll just ignore that for now, ok? agreed! i am assuming the ‘blonde’ is a reference to the color. i am behind anything that uses less artificial colors, so i support the idea at least. clear root beers are few and far between, i am not sure there are any still in production actually. the Vermont Sweetwater may be clear.
ok, i have one pet peeve, when the manufacturer of a soda decides to be clever or sneaky or whatever and say that a bottle or can of soda is 1.5 servings. or two servings. we know everyone drinks the whole thing so stop it. sure, if you look quickly you will see “oh, only 115 calories, that’s not bad at all!” but no, that is if you drink 66% of it.
so the flavor? it is a root beer, yes. the lighter color or blonde theme seems to carry through to the taste. it is very sweet. it is sparkly and refreshing more than heavy and rich. i enjoy sodas like that, but i want a little more. it would be a good thing to have on a hot day or with some pizza. it’s enjoyable and there are not lots of sodas in this sub-genre, so that is a bonus, but it doesn’t blow my mind.
i will admit, through this whole review i was tempted to make jokes about blonde women i have dated, but i resisted, you are welcome.
