it is not often that you find root beers in these huge 22 oz bottles. I am not sure if the idea is to share it or what. i suppose not as the serving size is the full 22oz in the nutritional info. but perhaps that was just easier for them to put on there and less likely to trick people. I can’t say i know anything about Mike or his mustache or whether he was established in 1959 or the soda company was. i would assume the soda company but perhaps not. based on the honesty quotient of the nutritional info, i will go with the soda company somehow being that old. i do like the picture of Mike and also his mustache on the label, although he reminds me of a aging professional wrestler or something. now, why did he/they name it ‘Raw Dawg Root Beer?’ for me, it has very weird, amusing connotations which i cannot really share on a family website but perhaps it is not that way for others. from what i can gather online, this company does not make soda anymore, but only italian ice. huh. oh well.
the flavor here is lacking a bit for my taste buds. i mean, there is a flavor, but it is low key and doesn’t really pop. the taste is a bit herbal, a bit rooty, a bit bitter and a touch sweet. it’s fine. nothing to write home to mom and pop about though. or really to justify wanting 22 oz of it. i, of course, am glad i tried it and if it was all there was someplace i might get it again but i wouldn’t reach for it or anything.
