so recently i went to Rocket Fizz and spent a good amount of time going through pretty much every root beer they had to see if recipes had changed, as that would qualify the brew as new and able to be reviewed right here. i ended up with about 24 new sodas. some were actually new, but most were re-formulations. often that is replacing high fructose corn syrup with can sugar or something similar. in this case, it is decreasing the salt content. or maybe i just have a typo on my original data entry for this drink and it is exactly the same. i suspect they probably changed it a bit as the original one was like a pre-production version. well, let’s see if 17 years later i still like this one as much.
um yeah, this is super good. it is pretty much exactly how i want a root beer to taste. i mean, at this point i have had a lot more sodas that try to do this and get close that it is not quite as unusual and doesn’t stand out quite as much. i do like a bit more licorice taste in there if i am going to pick the nits. it starts with a tickle of the tongue from an ideal carbonation level, which then forms into a very sweet herbal whole mouth yum and slides into a creamy caramel flavor that lingers. the honey i think really makes it. it adds to the mouthfeel and overall taste in only good ways. so yeah, this still is very tasty and probably has not changed much if at all. why mess with something good? huh Tommyknocker?
