It's a brand of Birch Beer. Pretty much like Root Beer except made from birch trees. If you scrape the bark off of a white birch it will smell just like Birchola.

i thought it was more of an overbearing wintergreen taste than a metallic taste. i think the six-pack had the nutrition information on it.

either way, i agree that it wasn't very good diet root beer. maybe some day i'll make my way up to alpena to see if the regular root beer is better out of the tap. A&W is amazing out of the tap and decent at best when bottled.

has a great and powerful root beer taste. i don't like a wimpy root beer, but it was a little too sweet. it has the perfect root beer taste, if it were only a little less sweet. could stand a little more foam too, for my taster. i like a foamy head on my root beer. love that it is made with cane sugar rather than corn syrup, and would rather it didn't have artificial flavor. looking forward to trying the boylan's natural

I love your (3) sodas. But I heard that you made black cherry and orange, do you still make those?
Is there any way you could make grape and strawberry?
Please let me know...thanks a lot.
                       Erin.

i do believe it is an old bottle, yes. i will try to find it and check for city or zip codes on it but i don't believe there was one.
i have tried gummi root beer bottles, but not in some time since i gave up gelatin. i liked them but i like most gummi things. actually i like gummi cola bottles better, but keep that to yourself! =)

Anthony,

Is this an old bottle that is being used? Does the bottle have a bottling city name on it and a zip code?
There was an old Hillbilly root beer and I think it was from CT or MA (reference stuff not at hand) and had a different logo, almost like a Mt. Dew hillbilly pose.

A side note - have you ever heard of or tried GUMMI ROOT BEER BARRELS? Tried some recently and was disappointed. I'm glad I didn't order a large volume for my shop.

Thanks for keeping up the good reviews.

16.9 fl oz is roughly the equivalent of 500ml. They must be using 500ml bottles ;-)

I just moved to Greenville, NC. I'm about 2 hours from the Weeping Radish brewery. Can't wait to get back over there and grab some more of this stuff. It really is that good.

As the designer of the products for Hosmer, I have to make the following points: Sarsaparilla is merely an adjective used on our root beer label. Both our root beer and our sarsaparilla contain extract of sarsaparilla root, an ingrediant that is virtually absent from probably 99% of the root beers and sarsaparillas that are made.It is not a powerful flavor and has nothing to do with Sassafrass, another old ingrediant for root beers that was banned in the early sixties and set back some fabulous drinks incuding Hires and Moxie.Safrol was the culprit molecule, avery important part of the above mentioned soft drinks.Root beer and sarsaparilla differ more in nomenclature than ingrediants---we make our sarsaparilla somewhat less vanillery and creamy [root beer with an attitude]but other companies could take an entirely different approach.
