Bedford’s Gourmet Root Beer

hhhmmm, very unique indeed. actually it tastes way more like a black cherry soda than a root beer. i am almost wondering if they put this in the right bottle. i will have to assume they did though for the sake of this review deal. sweet, fruity, yummy goodness. i like black cherry soda actually so i am not at all opposed to this drink. i wouold guess it is made with corn syrup even though no sweetener is listed. the whole ingredient list seems shady but whatever.

  3. This root beer was not spectacular at all. It tasted like crayons more than anything else. Maybe it was because it was bottled by Orca Beverages, so maybe they screwed things up. Unfortunately, this root beer cannot even stand up to store brand A&W. I’d have to give this a 57.

  4. I just tried a bottle of this, my bottle also tasted like black cherry, that was strange.

Just had this one for the first time. Multi-flavored and multilayered but not blended very well, in my opinion. Nice label and story. I’m giving this one a 78: above average but not great.

It’s midnight on a Wednesday. My palate is hours clean, haven’t brushed my teeth for bed yet, hankering for some good root beer. I have two dozen different bottles sitting in my pantry right now and Bedford’s got picked first.

Holy crap you’re right. Black cherry soda. The sweetness is right on, very little head though. Has a tanginess and bite and I can definitely make out in the caramel color and quillaia. Caramel color is a bit on the strong side, which makes sense considering it’s the second ingredient. I can always tell when sodium benzoate is added…shouldn’t be.

For all the fakeness, I’m kind of surprised this is tolerable. I want to keep drinking it, but only because of the black cherry similarities. Not one I’d buy again, but definitely an experience. I give it a 70.
