Gale’s Root Beer

i have been wanting to try this soda for a long time, after seeing it appear as one of the best on many other sites. i am surprised to see they use corn syrup in here, seem to go against the whole point of a gourmet root beer but oh well. ok, wow does that have a huge head! crazy stuff. hhhmmm, the label declares this to be “Cinnamon Ginger Vanilla Flavored” and it is definitely cinnamon! geez. now i do very much like cinnamon, don’t get me wrong here and it does add a unique flavor to this but it overwhelms the rest of it so much. in fact i can’t even taste the ginger and the vanilla is there only slightly. as a root beer i am just not that into it. as a soda it is decent and interesting though so i should judge it more on that side of things. sadly and quite disappointingly, it is just that, decent, not great.

I have a bottle of this stuff with me right now, and it lists only “cane sugar” as the sweetener. I guess they are no longer using HFCS.

  2. I was expecting much more from Gale, I watched her shows on TV and bought her cook books since I myself am a chef. She said on the Bottle she loves root beer, yet this really does not have much root beer flavor. First thing I did when I opened it was smelled it, very strong smell of Cinnamon.

Then as you pointed out, the Bottle said, Cinnamon Ginger Vanilla Flavored, That is not root beer in my mind. Those flavors might be in root beers, yet they are not supposed to be the over powering flavors. If I want those as the over powering flavors, I would by, Cream soda or ginger beer.

I thought I was drinking seltzer water, it was so bland. No idea why people like this one so much, it’s dead last on my list.

  4. Tried this one a few days ago. Was really blown away with how good the flavor was. Almost regretting that I waited so long to try again. It does have that nice rooty flavor…. with a helpful hint of ginger, cinnamon and vanilla. The first time I tried this many years ago, I thought the ginger overpowered it. Now, after trying again, I see how the cinnamon/ginger/vanilla are only hinted in the brew, and taste really good. This is a very good, unique root beer. I could definitely buy a case of this stuff. Yummy. Not the best ever, but an 89 for sure. You need to try again Anthony. They cane sugar.
