so through a trade with one of my root beer pals/nemeses i finally got a hold of this soda! it is one that i have wanted to get for a long while. it is frustrating indeed to know a soda is out there but to be unable to get a bottle of it. who knows how long it will be made for, with the rate of soda companies who disappear these days especially? i would go to their website every once in a while and see if they did mailorder yet. then i would see if any soda mail order places carried it. nope to both always. strange that the 2nd is true though, but perhaps not so much if the first is true.
the design here is ok. they go with the old west theme which seems quite popular in root beer for some reason. i guess it is an old west kind of drink, saloons and junk. well, more so than any other soda. so fine, whatever. stagecoach, tumbleweeds, wanted poster motif, “a taste of the old west” slogan, etc. great. the bottle is clear glass, which does not always bode well for the drink contained therein for some reason. maybe it is my own bias but colored glass bottled sodas seem to be better.
how is it? it is decent. no, better than decent, quite tasty. not awesome, no, but good. solid. the head lasts forever and is quite thick. does that matter somehow? not really. the vanilla is a prominent flavor here but it does not overwhelm, unlike in some sodas. besides that though, it is pretty standard and does not stand out too much. the cane sugar is a good touch, the sweetness level is fine. if anything, it is a little watered down overall. it does not demand attention or anything. i am pretty glad i did not have to buy a case of it but i am not suffering in anyway by drinking it. if it was around here, i would probably get more occasionally.

Eeeek. This root beer is a little weird. I tried their cola and it too has the weird aftertaste that their root beer has. It kind of has this wheatgrass/bad-breath/rubber aftertaste…. and I do not like that. The upfront taste is pretty decent, yet the aftertaste just kills it. It’s a bit better than A&W, so I’d give it a 69. Try it at least once.
It’s so weird, but I tried this root beer fresh from a keg and it was waaaay better than from the glass bottle. From a bottle it’s ok, but fresh from the keg I’d give it like an 84 – because it was pretty good.
