Smart Option Root Beer

wow, i don’t get this root beer at all. it is obviously generic as all get out, being as it only comes in a plastic 3L bottle and the design work is horrendous. but then it has both high fructose corn syrup AND aspartame! what?! why? it does not really have much less calories than a drink without diet sweeteners. does someone who buys a 3L bottle of soda really care that they saved like 30 calories for every 12 oz they drink? i doubt it. although maybe those are the people who are MOST concerned about it as they drink so much soda that they need to buy in such a large size.
i really don’t know much about this brand or the drink though. i found it in a supermarket in the Hudson Valley in NY but is is made in NC so i assume it is available other places? but i have no idea really.
like i said, i really hate the design work here, it is lazy and ugly. i feel like it is designed for a tv show set or something along those lines. i am thinking perhaps something set in 1985. not good. it is just TOO generic, even for a generic soda. the “root beer” could easily be replaced by nearly anything and put on a label, “dish soap” or “dog food” or “paper towels” or whatever.
the taste is way below par as well. it is soapy which i don’t think i have ever said before. it starts off ok but then gets soapy and has a bitter edge, neither of which are good, happy things in my mind. there is somewhat of a root beer flavor in there but it is buried. many other options exist, even a regular store brand would be better most probably.
