Squamscot Diet Root Beer

i don’t recall how i rated the other Squamscot sodas and i feel like if i go check it will influence my expectations here so i will wait and do that later. in any case, i want to like this company. or any small bottler than has been around since 1863. that is an amazing thing, most companies that claim to be that old were just reviving a recipe or company from that time that went out of business for the better part of a century. so kudos on that Squamscot!
my first drink of this is not so bad. it has a very heavy taste, syrupy almost. it is similar to when i really have a craving for maple syrup and just down a shot of it. not that that happens too often mind you, but occasionally. this is not as thick but a similar sensation happens. in about 2 seconds i get a taste of the usual artificial sweetener metal flavor which fades very slowly but is never too strong. nonetheless i don’t like that. i am left with that as the aftertaste 30 seconds later. the flavor otherwise is decent. it is a little sharp for my tastes but it is identifiable as root beer. i don’t love it and it is not the best diet i have had, but it is far from the worst. it also makes my stomach slightly ill like many diet sodas seem to do.
