Langers Root Beer

i have seen juice from Langers occasionally. i think it was mostly in Aldi stores and maybe some other random grocery stores. i have never seen this soda though. they don’t even list it as a product on their website so i have no idea how much they really are pushing it anyhow. or even where you can get it really. i am going with a guess of California and Washington state for now but please correct me if i am wrong.
i do like their efforts here, no HFCS, no artificial colors or flavors, no preservatives. also no crystalline fructose which i have no idea what the problem with it is. curious indeed.
the label is ok, kind of generic and feels like a store brand trying to be upscale. or a non-soda company branching out, which is what they are doing here. although i am not exactly one to talk about proper capitalization, the blurb on the bottle is all sorts of wrong: “Madagascar Vanilla Extract is combined with thick notes of Rich Cream Flavor and topped off with a touch of honey. Bold, Rich, Sweet and Smooth…” ‘Rich Cream Flavor’ is not a proper noun. or shouldn’t be. oh well.

wow, opening the cap unleashes a full on vanilla onslaught! i shall see if the taste is as vanilla filled as the smell. oh yeah, this is verging on a cream soda for me. i don’t like cream soda. which always surprises people. for some reason root beer and cream soda are slopped into the same general category in people’s heads. this soda is indeed the missing link and makes me more understand why those people think that way. i think i could deal with this in small doses but it is just SO intensely vanilla and the aftertaste lingers and sticks to your tongue for a long long time. i am sure some people will love this soda. i don’t. it is not as bad as a regular cream soda, but it is not good. if they rachetted down the vanilla about 42 notches this might be good. i taste nothing but that. well, vanilla and Rich Cream Flavor. i do not even detect the honey in there at all. i love honey, i was excited to see they sweetened with honey. yet it does not matter when it is overtaken by Rich Cream Flavor, i know it is a bit unfair to rate this so low, but that is my rating on my website and i need to be honest about my tastes. i am sure other people will love this.

A man after my own editor’s heart!

  2. Rich Cream Flavor is a good friend of mine. He’s a good man but his parents were a bit weird with their children’s names. Other than Rich Cream, he has a sister named Sweet Honey and a brother named Smooth Chocolate. Those Flavors, what a silly bunch.
