sarsaparillas

Yacht Club Sarsaparilla

so here is the second offering from the mighty Yacht Club! which always makes me think of 90210 and the season that was centered around the beach club with Brandon working there and Steve, Kelly and Donna Martin all being members. awkwardness ensued for a bit but it was nothing good buds couldn’t handle! some hijinks went down and i recall none of them really. i am sure David was involved and Dylan was mysterious and brooded a lot, probably avoiding the sun like a good vampire should.
this soda company has nothing to do with any of that though. this is a totally different zip code on the opposite coast! this soda flavor has a totally different painting of a lighthouse on the water. not that there are many lighthouses in other places i suppose. it also says “Sandy Point” really small, which could mean this lighthouse is in Sandy Point or that the soda is sort of called “Sandy Point Sarsaparilla.” i am not sure which really. i will go with the first. it is again a very beautiful, full color label which i appreciate very much.
right now, i wish i had reviewed the root beer at the same time as this sarsaparilla. they seem to taste virtually the same and a head to head comparison is warranted. alas i did not though. this drink is also kind of bitter, kind of herbal but not quite in a good way either. as much as i want to enjoy this, i don’t. sorry RI and Yacht Club. it isn’t really bad per se, but it is not a beverage i would seek out or probably even purchase again if given the choice between it and others except to support a small, local beverage maker or for the novelty of it.
