this is a drink that i had just about given up on trying their website seemed to disappear and who knows when or if i would ever get to Canada anyway. but then the all powerful Craigasaurus came through in a surprise move with a bottle of this as well as a few other brands from his recent travels! but wait, then a week later i got an email from a gentleman in Canada who wanted to trade a bunch of Canadian stuff for US stuff, including this drink right here.
Craig warned me when he gave me the bottle that it is under a lot of pressure so be careful when i open it. i noticed it was yeast carbonated and is supposed to be constantly refrigerated so i got in cold as quickly as i could. when i opened it, i was indeed careful. but not careful enough as it issues a very loud POP along with a bit of a spray of root beer to my face. not too bad though.
the first impression is from the smell and it is very yeasty. that turns me off a lot i will admit up front. i don’t like any of the yeast carbonated drinks i have had thus far, although they have been very few admittedly. so i was willing to give it a shot.
my first drink went down ok, but it is indeed very yeasty at all phases, initial tongue hitting, swallow and aftertaste. yeast dominates it all. there is a bit of root beer taste underneath there but it is almost as bad as a diet drink. plus the carbonation is harsh and very intense. i sadly must say i don’t like this one much at all. it is probably one of the worst root beers i have ever had. i do very much appreciate getting to try it though. perhaps if i had ever had (non-root) beer and acquired a taste for it i might enjoy this more? i don’t know. but it is a very hearty, strong drink.

I never heard of this, but would love to try it.
Growing up, my grandfather made homemade beer, root beer, orange and grape soda, all yeasted and all bottled by himself. I grew up drinking yeasted soda and like them.
