i am a fan of any brewery that makes their own root beer. this one seems to make a whole line of soda flavors, so that is even better! nice work Stone Cellar peoples! you make Wisconsin a fine place to visit i am sure.
i am confused by brands which revel in their light color as this one does (“lighter than the rest but still the best”) yet still add caramel color to make it some color anyway. since there is the potential that caramel color could be quite unhealthy, why put it in at all? but whatever, moving on.
i do like lighter root beers in general i think. they tend to be a different breed from the stereotypical root beer flavor in a good way. it just is lighter in feel also. this one fits those standards as well. it is sweet but also has a slightly citrus flavor on the back end that works well. it is a more refreshing soda than many root beers, not as syrup and heavy. i like both ends of the spectrum and this one does well on the light end. the flavor is rooty and herbal on the whole, starting a little sweeter, then the herbs kick in making it a little more bitter and then it fades to a slightly citrus taste, all the while being reasonably sweet. i enjoy it.
