Jason’s Deli Root Beer

so i traded for this one with the good doctor, then totally forgot about it and went on my root beer quest to Maryland and Virginia. in the middle of said trip I passed by a Jason’s Deli. my brain recognized it and debating pulling a u turn but it was getting a bit late in the day already and if i had any hope of making it to my other destinations, i might have to skip it. but it was right there! but the next stop was only about 2 miles down the road so i figured i would check out my phone for other locations closer to where i was staying overnight as i had more time the next time for side jaunts. i found there were two locations close by and went on my merry way. so the next day i go to the first one. no root beer. well, Barq’s on fountain. what?! ok, try the other one, same deal, ug! maybe i was wrong about them having a root beer at all. flash forward two weeks and i am trying to catch up on the sodas i traded for. i pull this one out of the fridge and laugh to myself, i had it all along! but it made for something to do i suppose. perhaps they only sell it at some locations. and not the Virginia ones at that. anyway, on with the show.
this is actually a unique tasting soda. it is very creamy and smooth. wow. the creaminess really hits later, as an aftertaste, leaving this mellow taste on your pallet after about 6 seconds. interesting indeed. before that it is pretty smooth as well, just less so. there is a huge head on this thing but the carbonation level remains fine and doesn’t kill the taste otherwise. the flavor beyond that is a little bit herbal, in a tea-like way. it is a fine drink. it isn’t incredible but i would have it again, if i could find it that is.

The Jason’s Deli in Murfreesboro, TN doesn’t have this either, sadly.

I like that I’m not seeing any artificial flavors among the ingredients. I wish it were available in NYC or Detroit. 🙁
