so it seems Barons has dropped the Boothill, changed the bottle and come out with a new recipe. it now proclaims “The Natural Way” on it which is good if it still tastes good. I quite liked the old one so I am not sure why they would change it, but it does have cane sugar instead of the mysterious “fructose” they used before. i will admit i have had a hard time deciding if it is “Baron’s” or “Barons.” the cap says “Baron’s bubbly beverages since 1973” but everywhere else it has “Barons.” trying to goggle some info on this beverage yields you nothing of any worth. that is pretty impressive in this day and age. there is an email address on the bottle: “baronsbeverage at icloud dot com” so i suppose i could try there for more info. as it is I have no clue where it is really available outside of the Root Beer Store.
as it has been 17 years or so since i tried their previous drink and my last review is not very detailed, i am not sure what it used to taste like so a comparison is nigh impossible, i am sorry to say. this one though is very tasty, i’d rate it higher that the previous rating i gave it. very flavorful and spicy yet very sweet. some would probably call this too sweet, but not me. nope, it is just right for me. i taste a lot of flavors in here, some anise, a little wintergreen, a big dose of sassafras and the expected sarsaparilla. yeah, it’s a good one, probably among the better sarsaparilla. or sassparillas if that is your thing as it is theirs.
