I found this one day online and put it on my Amazon wish list, more as a reminder to myself to go back and maybe buy it one day. But then someone bought it for me, so that’s exciting. I put it with my other syrups and extracts and have been slowly making my way through them. then I noticed this will be past its “best by” date soon so it got bumped up in the queue. on the label, they say to go to their website for recipes and they also say it is “hand crafted syrup for soda pop.” but no where on their site does it have a recipe for soda. therefore, i looked at their cocktail recipes and guessed how much other liquid is needed for the syrups to work. i figured about 2 to 1, seltzer to syrup. but that is too much syrup, even for me, so i toned it down more from there.
I like their label style pretty well, two colors are used in nice combinations. it feels much more like a county fair / circus type design style than a typical soda style, which is a nice change of pace.
it is a unique take on root beer, i will give it that. very rooty and herbal. there is a strong sarsaparilla flavor in there along with a good dose of ginger and something fruity. I am guessing the fruity thing is the raisins coming through. i find it kind of weird they have “natural root beer extract” as a flavor, so that could be almost anything. so yeah, it’s pretty good and different. one of the better syrups i’ve had. i may have to try it as a snow cone or something as well, that could be very good.
