I really thought I would have to go to Massachusetts to get this one, along with the other flavors in their line up. but one day i noticed that it was sold at a store in Brooklyn, which is significantly closer to me, huzzah!
i am rather surprised at the low level of carbs / sugar in this drink. most sodas seem to have around 40 grams of sugar, give or take 5 or 10 grams. but 24 grams is super low, as is 110 calories for the whole bottle.
now that i think about it, a sarsaparilla does not really need to be too sweet, if done right. just a low level along with sufficient herbal flavors will make it work. ok, let me see how this stacks up.
yup, they definitely work the herbal flavors here, it is for sure a sarsaparilla in my book. high licorice level, check! cinnamon, check! random other somewhat earthy, kind of bitter flavors that are not overwhelming the sugar, check! yes indeed, this is a very tasty sarsaparilla. if you do not like licorice i am sure you will disagree. it took me a few swigs to warm up to this drink, but now I quite like it. it is not crazy unusual but not a lot is.

I thought this sarsaparilla was pretty good. Nothing spectacular, but an 84 out of 100 to say the least. I liked how it was not too fruity like other sarsaparillas. The earthy taste is definitely there and it lacks the creamy component of a root beer. However, it is good. I was debating as to whether I could buy a case of this to stock in my machine; but I think I came to the conclusion that the most I could buy of this stuff in a single purchase would be a 6 pack.
