another reformulated drink! and a red birch beer at that. nice. granted i would prefer a red birch without artificial colors, especially red #40, but i doubt that will ever happen. why even make it red in that case? i suppose visual appeal which is why the artificial colors are in there as well. or maybe i am just getting too old and concerned about things that may or may not cause havoc with my well maintained temple of a flesh sack.
i have always had a bit of a soft spot for this brand. they were one of the first i ever reviewed and they are the only smaller brewer with constant presence in my local grocery store for all these years. granted i do not buy their soda too much but i really don’t buy soda in general much anyway.
this tastes a little too weak for my liking. nothing really pops out at me. it has some wintergreen birchy flavor in there so it is more than just sweetened water but i want more. the almost complete lack of carbonation does not help matters much either. if you just want a drink to drink that tastes pretty decent that won’t take away from your meal, this is a good choice. as a drink to enjoy on its own, it is just okay.
