Kroger’s Creamy Ginger Root Beer

it is always very cool when grocery stores (or anyone really) decides to up their game and put out their own gourmet root beer or entire soda line. it is even better when they seem to put some thought into it and make something different. sadly there are no Kroger anywhere near me. thankful the root beer world is very kind there are not many ginger root beers out there. trying to make it creamy on top of that is quite a tall order.
i quite like ginger, i would say ginger beer/ale is my next favorite type of soda after the root beer family. at various times i have debated including ginger beers on here or maybe branching out to review them as well. i mean ginger IS a root! but it is a different sort of thing to me, so i never have done it.
i am quite impressed that this has no preservatives. i am not even sure the last soda i had that had no sodium benzoate! so kudos to them for that up front. after tasting this i think it definitely falls much more in the ‘ginger beer’ camp than the ‘root beer’ one. that is not something i mind exactly. so yeah, a lot of ginger flavor here. underneath i do taste a hint of root beer, but barely and i really have to think about it, perhaps even convincing myself it is there. the drink is not too spicy yet enough to get you to pay attention to it. i don’t really think it is too creamy either though. that also is not a bad thing, just a curious claim to make. so i enjoying this, but i expected something different here.
as a sidenote, this is the 600th root beer review! woo hoo! only 23 years later!!
