Sprecher Zero Sugar Root Beer

Sprecher makes one of the larger microbrewed root beers around. I mean that in the popularity sense but also they make 16oz bottles so that would also be in the size sense. to me, it is not the best out there but it is just fine and better than the big boys and girls. there are also a couple of flavors, honey and maple root beers that were quite tasty. they do (or did? I am not sure if it is still in production) make a low calorie root beer, which seemed to fail in multiple ways. so that brings me to Sprecher Zero Sugar Root Beer, will it be good? c’mon, really Anthony? it is a diet soda. has that ever gone well, after 24 years? well, ok, but let’s try it before we dismiss it.
oh geez, yeah, this is not at all good. it doesn’t taste pleasant in any way. it reminds me of licking a piece of steel perhaps? I have never done that, granted, but I imagine it tasting this way. it is bitter and sharp and generally icky. my mom always said I should have something nice to say, so let me see…. there is not that terrible diet soda aftertaste with this one! that is something. I’d like to say more nice here, but the carbonation is rough and hurt-y, the flavor is not at all like root beer and the sweetness is all off. so yeah, I’d recommend not drinking this one, but instead get one of the normal root beers if at all possible.
