this was another Amazon find. I really didn’t know much about them before that. their website does reveal a bit. in 2018 the founders began their quest to create a line of lower sugar sodas, because sugar is evil and less of it is thus less evil. I can get behind that I suppose. I mean, no sugar would be even better, but they and everyone knows that artificial sweeteners are gross and kind of scary as well. as “demi doux” means semi sweet in the French, they are trying to live up to their moniker. this just has cane sugar, but less of it. I mean, 24 grams is not all that little but it is better than the 42 or so in many root beers. saying it is half of most sodas is rather an exaggeration, but whatever, I will let it slide this time. 90 calories is quite low though I will admit. now whether it tastes any good is really the key here.
well, for low sugar it is not terrible. I mean I would choose this over any diet soda I have had and probably all of the other hybrid low calorie sodas that mix sugar and artificial sweeteners or stevia or whatever. the flavor is just ok. I can tell it is root beer, it just is a generic root beer taste, but lighter. not really any vanilla or unusual, interesting tastes to enhance it. they claim its flavor is rich and deep but it is not that. I am not upset I had to buy a multi pack of this, I will drink it so it could be worse, but I’d rather it be extra tasty of course.
