one of the very kind Soda Pop Bros offered to send me a sample of this as well as their regular root beer and other brew from their store, which is most definitely the most generous offers I have had in many a year. maybe they do make them kinder in Canada after all. sadly one bottle of this brew shattered on its way to me which is quite sad, but as I only really need one, it is fine.
I love maple syrup, if you are unaware from previous maple root beer reviews in which I extol the yummiest of all sweeteners. so my bar is set pretty high for this, but I am trying to keep it real and impartial.
there is a serious amount of sweetness going on here, whoa. the maple is kind of just right I’d say, it does not take over the root beer taste but you know full well it is there. I believe some might say the maple is too strong, but being the maple fan I am, I disagree with that and shall challenge all who disagree to a vicious battle of Uno or something. beyond the maple, it has a smooth creamy mouth feel and a pretty strong head on top of a robust root beer flavor. there is a little bit of a weird, fruity after taste that may turn some away, most notably for me being my wife. I do not mind it myself too much. I think it is more the maple syrup than anything else really. so yeah, I liked this. I am not sure how it stacks up against the other maple root beers, but I would imagine it is pretty close to the top of the heap.
