a present from friend and fellow root beer lover Rob Base when he visited Providence. it is sort of unique i guess. do you know when you have some “Sugar In The Raw” for the first time or at least the first time in a while? you think it is great stuff and you want to buy it for your house all the time. but then you eat some more and it kinda gets gross. that is how i feel about most root beers that use pure cane sugar. it is a good taste for about 1/2 the bottle then it tastes kind of syrupy and junk. i think if i was drinking it with a meal it would be more enjoyable but just drinking it i am not amazed. not saddened or grossed out though.

sugar water with a little bit of a wintergreen taste. decent when you want a light, sweet beverage but if you are looking for something else, this is not it. a solid soda though in the capacity it fills. my girlfriend went “ick” when she tried it so i guess it is not for everyone. especially those who do not like wintergreen. i am not in that group, i quite enjoy the stuff. lucky for me huh?

i struggle to find the taste here even. subtle. but not quite as subtle as the birch beer i suppose. i wouldn’t ever be like “this is the yummy soda” or anything though i don’t think. but i don’t mind this and wouldn’t dump it down the sink as i would with some others (*cough* journey *cough*). the silly hypnotized dawg bugs me a little too. oh well.
