Norka Sparkling Beverages Root Beer

This is another resurrected brand. they say “since 1924” on the bottle but that seems a bit of an untruth as they were not in business for a large swath of that time. but no matter. I do really like their design, it is very 50s to me but it could very well predate that decade as well. it almost has a olde time communist feel to it, with the star in the background, red & white color scheme, and very angular fonts. but that could just be me once again.
this is a very sharp soda. which is what i somewhat expected. these type of old sodas often are less sweet and more sharp and herbal-ish than the newer sort of formulations. in general I don’t like the sharpness as much. here it is less upfront, but it still overwhelms the whole flavor profile. there is some creaminess on the end note that i can taste once the bubbles stop their assault on my tongue and that is yummy. it is a fine beverage but doesn’t kick it into the higher levels. other people may enjoy this sort of flavor more that i do.

Being old, I suspect that this is the kind of root beer I’d enjoy, especially since I don’t see any artificial flavors in the ingredients list. I’ll keep an eye out for it.

  2. This stuff was not bad at all. I gave it a bit of a better score than you, an 84. The thing that I noticed right off the bat with this soda is that it had a really good vanilla flavor. It was weird; because while it had a vanilla flavor – it was not a creamy root beer. All in all, it had a solid root beer flavor….however I was not a big fan of the carbonation as it was a little too sharp for my likes. I even contacted the company regarding their sodas, and they stated that the current Norka beverages are “improved” flavors; because they removed artificial flavors and HFCS. I mean, to me the root beer did taste “old fashioned” and authentic. I could buy a pack of this stuff because it was that good. Good quality stuff. I’ll be trying a few of their other flavors as well.

  3. This was pretty good, it might be the vanilla, but it tasted like a mild caramel flavor. I give this a 70
