Old Original Levis Root Beer Soda

every once in a while I will go to some store that has a bunch of root beers to try to find something new. 99% of the time there is not. so occasionally i decide to spend more time and look at the ingredients on pretty much all of them to see if any changed. if i am lucky, they have also changed the name at the same time so I won’t have to go back and mark one ‘old’ or something. it is even worse when there are 3 or more different recipes with the same name. i mean, if anyone has any good suggestions on how to handle that, let me know in the comments. (yes, i know the email form doesn’t work right now.) anyhow, this is one of the semi-recently changed recipes. it was pretty tasty before so it a little strange when that happens, but they seemed to have a new vision. they took out some of the caloric sweetener and decided to do one of those weird things by throwing an artificial sweetener in to try to reduce the calories but not actually make a diet drink. i can’t say i really understand why this is done. it pretty much never works, the drink always has the bad aftertaste still. but hey, maybe they figured it out this time.
yeah, um, sort of i guess…. it does not have a terrible aftertaste, true. but it is not a good tasting soda anymore. it is rather bitter and watery, not a lot of root beer taste. i have not a lot worse sodas, this isn’t really offensive or bad. it just isn’t great. there is a little aftertaste that makes me think it is worse than it is until i take another swallow.
