Big Wave Soda 101 Root Beer

another California brand i was very excited to get my hands on. they are a pretty new company and this is there first offering as far as i can tell. i am glad they went this cane sugar here, good choice CA peoples! i am not sure why there is no nutrition info anywhere on here or on the web. i thought that was illegal in the United States of A. oh well. now, how they can proclaim “it’s a classic!” on the label when they have only been around a year or so is hard for me to understand, but i guess you have to start such claims somewhere. or maybe it is referring to the classic car on the label. or the hope for “a classic taste like you remember when you were knee high to a bumblebee!” i just made up that quote and quoted myself, but feel free to use it at will yourself.
i also don’t get the naming, this is supposed to be “101 Root Beer” right? but on a highway sign, the “Route” goes where “Root Beer” is on the logo sign dealy-ma-boojy. so i read it as “Root Beer 101” much like “Root Beer 66” was supposed to be read when they existed. oh well, just me being anal or something i guess.
there is something different about the taste of this beverage. it is definitely not like what i remember from my youth. yet it is subtle. it makes it feel kind of light to me. that is not a bad way to go. i keep thinking “bubble gum” but i don’t think that is really it. maybe that slightly minty white gum ball taste is closer to what i am thinking. not wintergreen at all. interesting. it is not the normal taste and that is a refreshing thing. nice job Root Beer 101, oops, i mean 101 Root Beer.
