Dog n Suds Drive-in Style Root Beer

The original version of this was one of the first sodas i found on my first business trip. i was pretty excited about sneaking away from my hotel to root beer hunt at night where ever i could walk as the company only sprang for one car for three people and I was not the person with the keys. how i obtained this one was a bit less exciting. i went to the nearest Rocket Fizz and spent some time looking at ingredients to see what had changed since i had reviewed them. luckily this one also when from “Draft Style” to “Drive-in Style.” now, there are numerous sodas that claim to be ‘draft style’ but ‘drive-in style’ is a new one for me. i do not have any real idea what that means. not that i know what ‘draft style’ really means, but i take it to be extra carbonated, foamy and fresh. i imagine ‘drive-in style’ to be delivered by young folk on roller skates but not really have any effect on flavor or anything.
i must say i do not recall what the old recipe tasted like but this one is rather tasty. rich, caramel flavor with a smooth mouth feel. it goes down well and pairs with the usual suspects (pizza, veggie burgers, etc) well. its one flaw really is that it is predictable and there are many sodas much like it. it has a very good blend of tastes and for this “regular micro brew” flavor it is quite good. to set it apart it needs a little extra but if you want standard excellence, grab some of it.

We still have one of the Dog n Suds Root Beer Drive-In Locations about 20 miles from here. Good stuff. I have seen other locations in my trips around this area.
