Dublin Bottling Works Texas Root Beer

once famous as the last bottler in the world or at least the US to still make Dr Pepper with the original recipe including cane sugar, the Dublin Bottle Works branched out once they lost the right to make that special beverage. so the world loses something and gains some others. as i don’t like Dr Pepper much at all and i do enjoy root beer occasionally, i am ok with this bargain. it seems they also started a slew of other flavors that sound super yummy, including Cheerwine which i know is super yummy. so there you go.
now i wish i had lots of great things to say about this soda. it is fine, don’t get me wrong. it is good even. but it is just good. there are at least two dozen sodas that taste just like it. it is standard, good root beer. sweet, bubbly, tasty, root beer. somewhat creamy, somewhat sharp. i suppose when people hear i review root beers they think i am nuts, they are all the same right? sometimes they are sure, but usually they vary at least a bit. sometimes they vary a whole lot. it is better to be good and standard than bad of course. i don’t think 95% of the people who ever drink this will have tried more than one of the others sodas i have had that taste so much like it. so they will think it very tasty and be happy.
i do like the green and gold color scheme, that is interesting and fun. in any case, i hope the company survives a long long time yet and they put out a birch beer and sarsaparilla too, Texas needs birch beer for sure.

Dr Pepper Snapple, who yanked Dublin’s Dr Pepper franchise (they were selling it online–the horror . . .), are the Antichrist of soda and I make it a point not to buy any of their products. I’m glad that Dublin is at least still in business. And incidentally, I’m also a Cheerwine fan. I buy it at Fairway in NYC and even make cake with it. 🙂

  3. This root beer looks like it would just be ok. I’ve tried a few of the other Dublin sodas, and they were all just ok; although their red creme was waaaay too sweet.
If you want to try another Dublin soda, I HIGHLY recommend their cola. Their cola is easily one of the best colas I have every tried. You must try it.
