about 21 years ago I reviewed New York Seltzer then current root beer offering. that was actually a seltzer that was root beer flavored. soon after that though, they stopped making it. in my opinion, that was probably for the best as it was not too tasty. but then again, I don’t think I’ve ever had a seltzer I actually liked. my amazing gal though does in fact very much enjoy seltzer, so figuring this was really just a reformulation of the old stuff, I waited until we were both around to try this out.
being a kind gentleman, I let her try it first and she was very impressed. so I tried it and was quite surprised. it is really not at all seltzer, there is quite a lot of sugar in here. but I am not complaining. my lady also enjoyed it but as a root beer, not the low calorie beverage we had assumed it was. I admire that they only have four ingredients here, no artificial colors or artificial flavors, just the necessary stuff. it is light and crisp in taste, as one would hope a clear root beer would be. it is just sweet enough to be refreshing and not too heavy. the carbonation is a little bit sharp to me, but that is a small issue. it isn’t something amazing but it is a little unique and tastes good for a medium calorie beverage. I won’t buy it again most likely although I’d think about it if I saw it when I was getting a meal out in the world.
