one thing I will say about Rocket Fizz, they are very active in making new sodas, well at least root beers and the related things. although I don’t think they make any birch beers at all come to think of it. many of their offerings are really just the same drink with different labels although they do mix up the ingredients a little, putting ‘carbonated natural artesian spring water’ at times and ‘spring water’ with others and just ‘water’ with still other labels, so they are kinda different, but we all know it is exactly the same recipe. but that is all neither here nor there. this soda has nothing to do with any of the others as they have no sarsaparillas at all. the bottle is super amazing. the wax seal on the cap with an embossed Rocket Fizz logo is awesome. the label has sparkly gold leaf for the name and also the gold in the mine cart. plus on the back is a certificate that says if you collect five you can redeem it for a bottle of Death Valley Root Beer. I suspect this might just be Indian Wells Special Reserve Root Beer in disguise, but this tastes better than I recall that one being. and the ingredients are a little different while the nutrition info is quite different so I will go with a “no” on them being the same. plus then I have another soda to review this way. =)
the main flavor here is licorice, which I am a fan of. it is actually a really good drink. nice and sweet, creamy smooth with a good amount of spice to keep it fun and interesting. besides the licorice, I taste some nice sassafras along with I think a little clove. I would venture to say this is Rocket Fizz’s best offering. at least so far, I do have a couple other beverages of theirs in my fridge. anyway I like this quite a bit. it is kind of an expensive drink, I believe it was like $7, but worth it as a treat occasionally if you are so inclined.

[…] quite a while now I did not realize that there was both a Rocket Fizz Gold Mine Root Beer and a Rocket Fizz Gold Mine Sarsaparilla. not that I get to a Rocket Fizz location all that often anyway, but I was excited to realize this […]
I remember buying a case of the Gold Mine Sarsaparilla from a local distributer. Tried redeeming my Gold Mine certificates for a few free bottles at a Rocket Fizz store. Was like pulling teeth. The store didn’t want to give to me, so I had to contact Rocket Fizz directly. Took me like 2 months to get my 2 free bottles. Geez. They said I was the first person to ever redeem these tickets which is why there was a hold up. Talk about terrible customer service. However, the sarsaparilla is good enough to buy a case of. I believe I gave this one about an 85-91 score. Need to try again…. and I don’t even like Indian Wells soda that much.
