Olde Brooklyn Williamsburg Root Beer

yet again, they have tinkered with this one. well, actually it is now made by Sprecher, but it a different recipe than the one root beers they make. that seems a little weird acquisition to me, but perhaps not as Sprecher is a midwest brand and if they want to have a regional east coast brand this would be a fine way to do it. I guess. it might just be easier to sell Sprecher root beer out east, but I will trust their business doings much better mine as I have none and they have lots.
I really have not had Old Brooklyn since I reviewed the last version a bunch of years back so I am going into this sort of blind of how that one was. if I was blindfolded and drank this or just had a bottle with no label I would guess this is a birch beer. the taste is that much wintergreen. totally blind I would guess a red birch. if you know me, you know I like that sort of birch the best, lots of wintergreen but with a more robustness to it. that is a bit of a conundrum, it is a very good birch beer though and thus a very good drink so I will grade it on that scale. the wintergreen may really be a bit too much and it could use a little bit of something else in there. but otherwise I am a fan of this and would for sure get it again if I see it. the sweetness is nice. the old one was proud of their cane sugar, here they are proud of their real sugar, which I guess is not necessarily of the cane variety, but no matter. nice carbonation as well, no real head to speak of and that is fine in my book.
