At long last! This company’s sodas have always been just out of reach. well, not really I guess. they are located not that far from me, an hour and a half or so but it was too far to just go there and back for no other reason yet not so far that i could justify mail ordering some of it. but i found a couple of other breweries in the general area and made a little road trip out of it with my friend Michael. our first attempt to but this failed as the store was closed but we located another place close by and verified they were open and had the sodas!
this is the first pumpkin spiced root beer i have ever had. or heard of. i do like pumpkin spice things so this could work. maybe it will be the next flavored root beer trend, like butterscotch seems to be right now. i am amazed at how this has FIVE different sweeteners. wow. when i was a kid I was allergic to corn, so i know “dextrose” is probably just corn syrup, but no one wants to say that. they also list the serving size as 8oz, so the bottle is 1.5 servings. i have never seen that on a 12oz bottle before. it makes the calories and sugar content seem lower, which i guess is their intention.
ok, yeah, this taste works. the two parts, root beer and pumpkin spice really merge well together yet you can taste both things distinctly. it is creamy with a nice vanilla base but on top of that, the nutmeg and allspice make themselves well known. the cinnamon kicks in a little later, strongly. i was worried it would have an artificial seeming pumpkin taste but it comes off as pretty natural. this is probably not an everyday root beer at all, but for the occasional thing to add variety, it is definitely good. i hope they make more unusual flavors in the future. or someone else does.
