Moonglade Brews Commander Ron’s Root Beer

there seems to be many more sodas in these tall skinny cans these days. I am guessing that being slender, they make people think they are a healthy choice, subconsciously or something? I don’t know. maybe it seems more fancy or sophisticated? or just unusual, which they of course are, even if they are becoming more prevalent.
this brew I found out about from the Root Beer Hunters facebook group but oredred from Amazon. yes, I probably should have gotten it directly from the company to support them even more, but it is like $17 with subscribe and save on the Amazon for a four pack where it is $23 on their website. although actually not that I look again, closer to when this is going to publish, they just send people right to Amazon now, so never mind all that.
this being an all natural soda, I am a little wary. that rarely goes well, unfortunately. but I am ever hopeful and an optimist so let us see.
oh. huh. this is good. yeah. distinct for sure. I am tasting some star anise, almost licorice in there at first, which does not overwhelm like many licorice containing drinks do. but then in comes a whole bunch of other flavors. we have some cinnamon, definitely vanilla, maybe nutmeg and something with some hearty weight to it. let me take a gander at the ingredients, ah molasses! I can see that. this is one of the better natural root beers I have had, right up there with the old Boylans Natural, if not better perhaps. the carbonation is reasonable and a little light, just how I like it myself. they have created a very individual root beer here which does not happen all that much. I am a fan and regret a bit only getting the four pack, although it is quite pricey, so not really something I can afford to get much more of anyhow. it is strange how this sort of thing has to be just spot on, too much or too little of an ingredient and it would be quite bad. I suspect this will be a divisive drink, love it or hate it since it is an unusual taste.
