alright, so a few weeks ago i got an email from the fellow who runs rootbeer.net, which is an amazing collection of root beer stuff. just awe-inspiring indeed. he had started a root beer stand of his own in Myrtle Beach, SC and offered to send me a sample of his own personal recipe brew! now, i am not one to say “no” to such great offers so i accepted obviously. a couple days later a wonderful package came in the mail with a couple bottles of soda along with every imaginable type of root beer candy. this included taffy, lollipops, rock candy, root beer barrels, flavor aid, candy sticks, and more! wow, that was the best package i have gotten for free all year!
the first thing i notice when i sample this soda is the brown sugar, i love it, it adds a different sort of dimension to the flavor profile. it also makes the brew have a bit thicker mouth feel i think, more sturdy and solid. i am reminded of a combination of Tommyknocker and Frostie in the taste department, although this comes off better than both. Tommyknocker has too much of that brown sugar/maple sort of flavor going on and that takes away from the true root flavor. Frostie is just a straight up, full on root beer, no tricks or added extras. this brew ups the ante and comes in among the top of the pops.
so if you are ever in Myrtle Beach, get some on tap, or perhaps a 6-er to go.

I was just vacationing in SC and the Myrtle Beach location is now closed 🙁 Apparently, they have a NC location which is still open (for now) though.
