I have put this soda off long enough. I just have a bad history with diet drinks, as you may have noticed. well, I am hopefully anyway that this will be the one to break the usual badness that is diet soda.
now this is a very weird drink. it starts off actually pretty good. it is rather root beer tasting with a larger dose of licorice. but after a second it gets a bit metallic and that taste builds quickly but does not take over fully. you are left with a licorice taste that then slowly fades off. so it is not in fact all that bad. weird. it isn’t particularly good, mind you. but for a diet root beer, it is one of the better I have had. perhaps it is the anise / licorice that covers the Splenda after taste. interesting indeed. again I am glad I am able to have fully sugared sodas, although there are some ok options out there for those who cannot.
