Prairie St Brewing Co Root Beer

this soda has been in fridge entirely too long. somehow I always overlooked it when I checked for what to review next. really I am not sure who I traded with to get this one, so if it was you, please let me know and thank you! perhaps the reason I did not grab it sooner is that it just looks so vert generic. you have your traditional root beer colors, brown, orange & yellow. you have your wood grain. you have your foamy top. and you have your 70s sort of font style. all the root beer tropes just add up to a suppose either a very generic or a very unique soda in that nothing has that much of the expected items.
well, hopefully the soda itself is not as generic as all that. hhhmmm, well if I did not know better I would have thought this had honey in it, that seems to be the dominant flavor. but it does not. I am guessing it is the three other types of sweeteners teaming up to try to be a more superior sweetener than any of them can be on their own. so beyond the pseudo-honey the experience is dominated by way too much carbonation, ooof. it isn’t really the harsh carbonation of some sodas but it is very present and makes it hard to taste much under it. I have now drank (drinken? drunk? drunken? hath drinketh?) most of this large can and still do not have a great handle on the flavor. a little bit fruity, a little less rooty? something like that. it is fine but I hoped for more from a brewery I guess.
