this seems a complex brand. I am calling it “Jade City Foods Kaiju Alpha Root Beer” (obviously) but it is also from GodzillaFoods.com. perhaps that is just their website? I don’t know. they also claim to be ‘premium reserve soda since 1954’ but I really don’t think that is the case. I mean, maybe some version of this recipe was made in the 1950s but it was not a continuous thing. I have been doing this thing for almost 30 years now, I think I would have heard about a brand that was around that long at some point before now.
well, let me try this thing out. well, it is fine. it starts with a pretty sharp, hard edge probably from the carbonation, but then slowly fades into a herbal root beer taste which is rather standard and finally a creamy sweetness comes in and takes over. it is the initial slap of sharpness that is not working for me. besides that it is pretty good but nothing too special or premium. but with that starting taste it gets taken down a bit. at least it is a short lived thing and the lingering taste is a good one. I am not sure at all what this has to do with Godzilla or Kaiju in general but I suppose a name is just a name in the end.
