I was rather excited when I found this drink in my local Shop Rite. Hank’s does a very fine job with their beverages, in general, so hopefully they could do well with a natural one, with no sugar and no calories! I mean, if anyone can, Hank’s can, right? right….? well let’s find out.
ok, no, they did not. yeah. oof. this is bad. not historically bad, no, but not good in any way. i do not exactly dread taking more sips but I am definitely not finishing it. I think I just don’t like stevia most of all of the no calorie sweeteners. it just gives everything this horrendous, metallic taste. I don’t think the monk fruit extract is doing it any favors either though. it seems I like my no calorie sweeteners to be artificial. although I don’t love aspertame and sucrolose, they do taste much better that this mess. one bright spot is that this has no artificial colors, not is something I fully get behind and which works for them. i find it very amusing that they proclaim this as vegan when really there are maybe ten sodas that are honey sweetened and would not qualify. I could be wrong of course, maybe sodium benzoate or gum arabia are not vegan but I doubt that highly. anyway, this tastes like licking a slightly root beer tinged metal pole. if that sounds appealing, then go rush out and get this in your mouth as soon as possible.
