ok, so someone wrote to me and told me where in Boston to get the other AJ Stephens sodas, so my good friend Michael went there one day and got a whole slew of em for me! this is a pretty tasty soda but the carbonation is overpowering. my mouth tingles so much that i am barely able to taste the flavor of the soda. it has a slight bite of bitterness and you can faintly detect the cane sugar taste. i am enjoying it but it is not the best thing out there. perhaps the non-cane sugar one is better. i will soon see…

I’m starting to find some damn good root beer made here in N.E. where I live.
This is another one of those root beers that have that gross “artificially flavored vanilla crayon” aftertaste. The upfront flavor is pretty decent, but the after taste is just so undesirable. It gets it a little better than Old Town’s “crayon tasting” root beer, but still lags. I don’t think I got a bad bottle or anything, so I’d have to give it a 71 out of 100. Maybe I’ll give it one more chance to make sure.
This one is ok, I have had better, it has a slight wintergreen flavor, at least it does to me. over all weak in root beer flavor. I give this a 65
After finally trying this again I am happy to say……….this is waaaaaay better than I thought it was. I poured this in a frosted mug and oh boy was it really really delicious. Has kind of a basic root beer flavor, but so good and perfect sweetness. Has nice notes of sassafrass and vanilla and is a root beer I’ll perhaps buy a case of to put in my vintage vending machine. A step up to a 92.
