Old Towne Root Beer

I got an email a bit ago from a friendly fellow who offered to send me this soda. i of course accepted and a couple of days later this bottle arrived on my doorstep, wrapped better than a nuclear warhead smuggled into a third world nation. very impressive. so the website claims that this beverage is distributed in 14 states from the midwest to the northeast, but frankly i have never seen it and i drive all over that general area a good amount, looking for sodas. but it is bottled by Royal Crown (of Chicago) which i would imagine would be rather widespread. anyway… i feel like they should have gone all out with the old timey spelling and called the company “Olde Towne” if you are going to go with the “e” on the “Towne.” enough with this, off with the cap! hhhmm, curious flavor, they have ventured somewhat away from the traditional root beer taste here. very bold for a semi-generic drink. it has a sweetness that reminds me of marshmallows at first. not too bad. a little harsh in the carbonation, i know i will be burping after downing this stuff. the root beer taste is under there though, so i know what it is i am drinking. pretty good for a store-like brand.
