on the one hand, I really like clear/white birch beers, I have had some good sodas from Polar and I quite like the liter bottle size they have going on. but on the other hand, this is a diet soda and that is a really big strike already. but who knows, I may be surprised in a pleasant way.
you know what? this is not half bad. weird. although that means it is only half good. that is much better than most diet sodas though so that is something. the awful aspertame taste is there in the background aftertaste but not nearly as strong and overwhelming as one would expect. the birch taste is also rather subtle which is unfortunate. i like the wintergreen yumminess that birch beer is known for, so not having much of that drags this down some. mostly it tastes like a watery, yet quite sweet hardly birch beer. that is not the worst thing to be mind you.
I am surprised this took me nearly 25 years to find but then again I don’t really examine the diet sodas all that closely too often and Polar is a brand that is found rather sparingly and sporadically so maybe not too shocking when you get down to it.
