as I make these syrups, extracts, mixes and potions in a seltzer bottle in order to carbonate them and rate them all on an even playing field, I have been trying to figure out how to get the best soda out of one of these things. sure it has a super huge head when I first spray it out of the bottle, but unfortunately that goes away very quickly. I know there are other carbonating machines out there or I could just mix it with seltzer or something like that. the other machines seem to rely on the same thing as what I have really, a CO2 cartridge is let loose inside the tank. the nicer one can regulate the actual pressure and all but I don’t think that will make any difference here. but perhaps I will find one for cheap and I will try it out. anyway, this time mixing up this stuff I let it carbonate about 48 hours as I had read that should make it last longer. but no, it did not. huge foamy head? yes! gone in 10 seconds? yes as well. but no matter, I press on.
this stuff is kinda of handy, you just add it to carbonated water as they direct and you are set! no added sweeteners to deal with, so that is nice. it all depends on how much control you want though. if you desire to make a maple syrup sweetened root beer, this is not the stuff for you. this does have more ingredients than most actual root beers though so you may want to not deal with all that either.
I had expected this to not be so great, mainly because stevia ruin everything for me. I know lots of people love it but I just dont’ like the taste. it does not overpower this stuff but it is there in the background a bit. beyond that though this just isn’t so great. it is sort of generic though. well not sort of, very much so. much like many sodas, this is not terrible but it is just there and in my glass and not really so good. I suppose if you want to have something to make a vaguely root beer tasting drink out of at any moment you could do worse but you could also do a lot better.
