the Root Beer Hunters group on facebook is a fantastic thing and has actually really taken off a ton in the past six months or so. this has lead to a lot of new people on there and, for me, a few new trades for exciting sodas I would never be able to get myself! the most recent round of them with a very nice fellow named David resulted in four new root beers for me. this is the first of them, which you may have guessed by this point, otherwise why would I be telling you all this?! yes, I actually do have quite a few other drinks to review that I have has much longer. but as this was from a brewery and probably fresh canned and I just have no idea how long such things are good for I chose to do this one first. now that I think about it, it should last as long as any other canned sodas probably, but oh well, it is open now and here I go.
the main flavor here under the root beer is licorice. I like licorice and they don’t overdo it here so those are very good things. nonetheless there is a sharpness in the flavor and the carbonation that takes away from that goodness. as I drink more I actually like it less, which is unusually I must say. at times the opposite happens where a drink grows on me more as I drink more, but here, not so much. I am happy I got to try this but hoped for more, well I always hope for more but keep an open mind.
