Faygo Original Root Beer – old

I may have just overlooked this root beer when it appeared in the world, or perhaps when they put it in glass bottles this time around the recipe was the same as their regular root beer. I would guess the first is the correct thing though if I were a betting man, which I am not really at all. luckily for me I did indeed stumble across this brew and now I have it to review! hooray! I am running quite low of sodas so it is especially a good thing. but is this beverage a good thing? let’s try it and find out!
huh. this is a prime example of carbonation really taking a soda down a bunch of notches. i have said this in other reviews but it really holds true here. the carbonation is just harsh and overpowering. maybe that is ok when a 3 liter bottle is 69 cents but you are expecting something with more thought and care put into it when you have a glass bottle soda and here it does not fly. it really masks the actual flavor of the drink. I can taste a root beer flavor underneath and it is ok, your run of the mill taste. I suppose it is better than their normal root beer from what I recall. I let it got flat a bit and it is more tasty now. a little creamy and a nice head that dissipates quickly which is how I prefer it myself. the aftertaste is actually where it is best as the carbonation fades and you just have a nice creamy rooty taste left, making me think “was that really so bad 3 seconds ago?” but yeah it was.
