the kind people at Arrowhead Wines / Mobilia Farms offered to send me some of this beverage after I inquired as to its availability. I am actually not sure what to call it so hopefully this is ok with all involved. ‘Chautaugua Beverages,’ besides having an abundance of ‘a’s and ‘u’s in close proximity, does not yield any correct search results so perhaps this is just the fledgling offering from what is soon to be a great soda empire. in any case I wish them much luck. I do like the old time seeming label and ponder the ‘Est 1938’ on it as that is a legacy unknown to me and about which I can find no information.
I think I am going to have to try a second bottle of this one. you see, the first is just super carbonated, after taking my first sip, the bottle foamed up and got all over my table and junk. subsequent sips were a bit better but still the taste is dominated by the bubbles. if i did not know better from the ingredients I might guess this was yeast carbonated as it has a little bit of a yeasty taste to it as well. as I drink more of it though, the flavor is coming through a bit more. even though I did get this for free I have to say this is not all that good. it is just too bitter with that sharp carbonation. if you enjoy a pretty not sweet drink perhaps this is more up your alley than mine. strangely it has a good amount of sugar even though it does not come through in the flavor.
