this seems to be a new version of Lion Brewery Root Beer which I reviewed twenty five or so years ago. I had always kind of wondered what happened to that soda as I used to see it occasionally but had not run across it in quite a while. although I have not seen this one at all in stores or anything. I actually got this in a trade from the wonderful Gene. I will admit I do not really recall what that older version tasted like. after I write this I will have to go back and read it to see if they compare.
I feel like this having 32g (64% RDA) of sugar yet only 130 calories seems a bit wacky. but I will have to just trust in their laboratory testing and believe in it.
I do like this. it is has a solid caramel taste and a nice mouth feel, smoothly goes in and down. I do wish it had a little more going on. yes, it is a nice, yummy root beer that I am enjoying yet there are hundreds of those. to get into that upper eschalon it needs little extra. that is not a real criticism mind you, just something, after 29+ years that I am looking for. ok, going to look at that old review… yeah this is an improvement I think. nice! I mean the ingredients are exactly the same but the nutrition info has changed so I will go with this not just being a name change.
