this is not to be confused with Clover Club or Clover Classic, this is the house brand of Dollar General stores. i suppose i probably could have gotten this myself but instead i traded for it. we have Dollar General dollar stores in NJ but i very rarely go to them. i am not sure i have ever been to one. Dollar Tree is much better actually but they don’t have their own root beer, even though they do have cans of IBC sometimes and 32 oz bottles of Dad’s quite often. but still, dollar stores can be a good source of new root beers so i am surprised i haven’t gotten this myself. oh well, now i have it so it all does not matter.
i realized i had not reviewed a root beer in a couple months so even though this was not really next in line, i let it jump the queue and be up next. strangely i don’t have a lot of just root beers in the queue right now, diet root beers, sarsaparillas, etc, but i think just two other plain ole root beers. actually one is far from a plain ole root beer, as you shall see in a couple weeks! oh golly gosh, the anticipation! although i should not say that as i may move this review to a different date and then it will all make no sense.
this stuff has a flavor much like many other store brands, but not quite as good. it seems weak to me, like they skimped on the natural and/or artificial flavors somewhere along the line. not that this is shocking, dollar store root beer is probably a step down from grocery store root beer which is itself a dozen steps down from nationally distributed root beers which are a few steps down from microbrews. or something like that. in general. plus the carbonation level seems low. and it got warm really quickly. why? i don’t know. but i don’t trust it. you can do better, even for 12 cents or whatever this costs.

This root beer is nasty
I bought some and it smells like dead roaches. Also tastes really bad. I had to throw it out. Nobody in my family wanted to drink it it was really nasty
There is nothing wrong with this root beer
I picked some of this up in a grocery store, its pretty generic and nothing special. I give it a 65
This RB and other Clover Valley products from Dollar General tastes musty. It really does. I noticed it driking the Mt. Dew version. Tried various options over time. All taste bad.
Does it have caffeine tho?
No, no caffeine in here. Every drink has it listed in the bottom section whether it is caffeinated or not.
